<p>Kettlebell is a full body training system with a dynamic approach that provides the trainee a full body workout.</p>
<p>A Kettlebell workout enables the trainee to strengthen and develop all <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/body-parts/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with body parts">body parts</a> simultaneously, using a lot of muscle groups just as you might in day-to-day routine.</p>
<p>Therefore, Kettlebell&#8217;s connection to Krav-Maga is only natural, since Krav-Maga is a self-<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">defence system</a> that implements the idea of natural, coherent movements , and maintain a fit body and a &#8220;ready – to – go&#8221; mind once attacked. I assure you the combination of Krav Maga &amp; Kettlebell training will build a very good fighter.</p>
<p>In an aim to keep fit; The Kettlebell system is the best way to achieve a fit body in a short period of time and in the healthiest way.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the Krav-Maga trainee shouldn&#8217;t look like a body builder, and Kettlebell keeps you lean yet strong in ways you can&#8217;t imagine.</p>

<p>June 14, 2008 </p>
<p> At a Krav Maga class, Nandini Nairlearns that the best defence is attack</p>
<p>Beware! I might not be armed, but I’m dangerous. I’m just back from a Krav Maga class.</p>
<p>It is the official self-<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">defence system</a> of the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israeli-defence-forces/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with israeli defence forces">Israeli Defence Forces</a>. It emphasises instinctive movements, <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/practical-techniques/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with practical techniques">practical techniques</a>, and realistic <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/training/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Training">training</a> <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/scenarios/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with scenarios">scenarios</a>. It might be the domain of bodyguards and elite <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/military/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Military">military</a> units, but it’s relevant for every person on the street. <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky-kapoor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky Kapoor">Vicky Kapoor</a>, CEO, Ultimate Tactical and <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/combat/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with combat">Combat</a> Ltd and the pioneer of Krav Maga in India, looks me in the eye and asks, “Are you safe when you are walking, talking, sleeping, sitting?” I hear myself mumble “No”. “That’s why you need to know this form of <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/self-defence/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with self defence">self defence</a>,” he retorts, removing the rings on his finger, with his teeth.</p>
<p>There can’t be a policeman for every person. So, it’s important to be one’s own leader, as Kapoor says. While Krav Maga is practised in groups, I get the honour of a personal class with him.</p>
<p>It starts with a warm-up session, “to lubricate the joints,” he explains. The exercises are not the usual sit-ups and push-ups as, “This training is not to be body builders. But to be fighters.”</p>
<p>USP</p>
<p>After some basic warm-up exercises like rotations and squats, Kapoor asks me, “What would you do if you suddenly realised that your auto driver was going the wrong way on purpose.” I reply proudly and almost smugly, “I’ve a <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/pepper-spray/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with pepper spray">pepper spray</a> in my handbag.” Kapoor tries to suppress a giggle of scorn. “By the time you get your <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/pepper-spray/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with pepper spray">pepper spray</a> out, he would’ve done what he wanted,” he tells me. I feel chastened. And stupid. “Krav Maga is about making smart fighters, not stupid fighters,” he asserts. He then elaborates that the first thing to do is to pull back the hair of the driver. This will force him to apply the brakes. And you run for your life. He tells me to supplement my <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/pepper-spray/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with pepper spray">pepper spray</a> with a fistful of coins. Throw the coins in the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/attacker/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with attacker">attacker</a>’s face and it will be like a canon of pebbles. Sizing me up, he adds, “Small and big is immaterial. It’s important what you project. Even if you are <em>fus </em>inside – you should walk with <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/confidence/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with confidence">confidence</a>.”</p>
<p>The USP of Krav Maga is how to deal with stress under pressure. “It doesn’t teach what’s not real,” says Kapoor. The benefits of it are both mental and physical. While physically it increases flexibility, coordination and speed, it also makes one mentally stronger. In a situation of threat it’s crucial not to freeze and to maintain eye contact. Engaging in a verbal dialogue helps to disengage the attacker from his intentions.</p>
<p>Believing that the best defence is attack, Krav Maga teaches how to adapt the situation to one’s advantage. Keys can slash and pens can jab. The chin, neck and <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/groin/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with groin">groin</a> are the most vulnerable points. The torso itself can take <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/punches/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with punches">punches</a> but an attack on the sensitive parts can debilitate an assailant. Kapoor demonstrates how to elbow the chin and to knee the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/groin/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with groin">groin</a>.</p>
<p>After one class, I’m inspired to be my own leader.</p>

<p><strong>Q&amp;A: <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky-kapoor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky Kapoor">Vicky Kapoor</a>, Director, International <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/krav-maga/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with krav maga">Krav Maga</a> Federation</strong> Aabhas Sharma / New Delhi April 19, 2008</p>
<p>Krav Maga, a <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-arts/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial arts">martial arts</a> form, has recently caught the fancy of <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/fitness-freaks/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with fitness freaks">fitness freaks</a> &#8211; from Omar Abdullah to Shweta Nanda. Aabhas Sharma asks <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/instructor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with instructor">instructor</a> <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky">Vicky</a> Kapoor to demystify it.</p>
<p><strong>How different is Krav Maga from other forms of <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Martial">martial</a> arts? </strong></p>
<p>Krav Maga is a <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-art/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial art">martial art</a> form with a simple, effective <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">defence system</a> that emphasises <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/instinctive-movements/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with instinctive movements">instinctive movements</a>, <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/practical-techniques/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with practical techniques">practical techniques</a> and realistic <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/training/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Training">training</a> <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/scenarios/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with scenarios">scenarios</a>. It not only improves your fitness but also trains you in <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/self-defence/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with self defence">self defence</a> much better than any other form of martial art</p>
<p><strong>Who are the kind of people taking up Krav Maga? Is it more for self defence or as a fitness booster? </strong></p>
<p>A majority of people take it up for fitness as Krav Maga helps in toning muscles and it also improves body coordination.</p>
<p>While it does help in burning calories, people have realised that it is more suitable for self defence. Toning and losing weight is not the main goal but many women say they see these results too during training.</p>
<p><strong>How exactly does it work? As in, are there any sets of rules that are applicable? </strong></p>
<p>Unlike other self-defence and aerobic programmes, there are no required steps or rules in Krav Maga. Instead, here techniques are practised in simulated, ever-changing attack situations.</p>
<p>One thing that Krav Maga does is it helps one be in control of situations even when one is unarmed. It uses simple techniques that are part of natural <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/body-movements/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with body movements">body movements</a> and <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/reflexes/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with reflexes">reflexes</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Where did you learn the art and how popular is it globally? </strong></p>
<p>I learnt the art in <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israel/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israel">Israel</a> and realised that it is not a sport which has martial arts but it is actually serious business. I always tell my students that if you genuinely want to learn and are serious about it, you should take up this form. It is no child’s play.</p>
<p>Probably, this is a reason why it has been officially adopted for training armies in 25 countries including Australia and Sweden.</p>
<p><strong>What is the USP? </strong></p>
<p>Krav Maga training stresses the ability to react when one is surprised. Techniques and training methods here emphasise the ability of the individual to function from a poor state of readiness and to move from a passive to aggressive state immediately, in order to defend yourself. Students are taught to react effectively under stress and to move efficiently from a position of disadvantage to a position of advantage.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israeli/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israeli">Israeli</a> Defence Forces have a gift for the world. Sanjeev Bery takes a closer look at the spread of <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/krav-maga/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with krav maga">Krav Maga</a> <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Martial">martial</a> arts in India</p>
<p>Israeli&#8217;s Arms sales may capture the headlines, but they aren’t the nation’s only export to India. In south Delhi’s upscale Saket neighborhood, a small but growing number of residents are learning Krav Maga, the hand-to-<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/hand-combat/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with hand combat">hand combat</a> system of the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israeli-defence-forces/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with israeli defence forces">Israeli Defence Forces</a>.</p>
<p>A big man with a gruff demeanor, <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky">Vicky</a> Kapoor is the one responsible for bringing Krav Maga to India. He describes the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-art/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial art">martial art</a> in clipped phrases: “<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/combat/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with combat">Combat</a> fighting — a system which is quick — easily retained.” Kapoor himself came to Krav Maga after decades of experience in <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/karate/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Karate">karate</a>, judo, and other <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-arts/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial arts">martial arts</a>. “What I saw was that Krav Maga is the most practical self-<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">defence system</a>,” he says.</p>
<p><span id="more-415"></span></p>
<p>Since Krav Maga’s arrival in 2004 in India, some 600 students have undergone Kapoor’s <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/training/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Training">training</a>. New programs have started in Gurgaon and Bengaluru. And classes will soon begin in Mumbai, Kolkata, and other cities. “Krav Maga makes you more aware of the threats around you,” says south Delhi resident, Nitin Bhasin, one of Kapoor’s students. “You are better prepared to handle situations that might arise.”</p>
<p>At Kapoor’s Delhi studio, a sign quotes Krav Maga’s founder Imi <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/lichtenfeld/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Lichtenfeld">Lichtenfeld</a>: “If you want peace, prepare for war.” Another shows a stylised graphic of soldiers, presumably Israeli, descending from <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/military/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Military">military</a> helicopters. According to Krav Maga’s promoters, what sets it apart from other martial arts is its focus on immediate self-defence. Absent are the yoga-like movements found in East Asian martial arts. Also missing are any rules against striking the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/groin/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with groin">groin</a>, eyes, or other vulnerable parts of the body. In class, though, steps are taken to keep people safe.</p>
<p>Krav Maga began in the 1930s, when Lichtenfeld organised European Jews to defend themselves against Nazi militias. Israeli military trainers further developed the martial art into something they could quickly teach new troops. In <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/hebrew/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with hebrew">Hebrew</a>, the name literally means “close combat.”</p>
<p>It is definitely not a pursuit for the common man. In Bengaluru, a two-and-a half week course with 10 hours of instruction costs Rs 2,800. In Delhi, the monthly fee is Rs 3,000, plus Rs 2,250 in startup costs.</p>
<p>In the Delhi studio, the military images compete for attention with pop star <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/jennifer-lopez/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jennifer Lopez">Jennifer Lopez</a> throwing a punch. Most women, however, attend the studio’s kickboxing <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/cardio/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with cardio">cardio</a> classes, not the martial arts sessions. “They are more concerned about weight loss than their safety,” Kapoor says.</p>
<p>The low turnout of women is true of the Bengaluru studio as well. “Mr. ,” as the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/instructor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with instructor">instructor</a> calls himself, blames Indian gender roles. “Women are always told from childhood to be nice to men,” he says. “They should not talk back or fight back. Suddenly, they find themselves confronted by a sexual predator, and it is difficult to erase the years of training they have received.” But he points to a new <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/attitude/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with attitude">attitude</a> in his female students. “They can do something to protect themselves. They don’t have to rely on boyfriends or brothers to protect them all the time,” he says.</p>
<p>CURIOUSLY, CIVILIAN Krav Maga is still affected by Israeli military concerns. “We are restricted not to teach the Palestinians or the Iranians,” Kapoor says. No individual is turned away at the door, but Krav Maga does seem to have official friends and enemies.</p>
<p>Even so, promoters are reticent to discuss Krav Maga’s potential role in the controversies of actual Israeli military practice. “We don’t mix those things with politics,” says Eli Ben-Ami, Co-Director of the International Krav Maga Federation, based in <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israel/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israel">Israel</a>. “It has nothing to do with the occupation or what is happening in the Occupied Territories.”</p>
<p>Ben-Ami, a former Israeli soldier, stressed that he was speaking as an individual. “Those soldiers who are dealing with the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories mostly don’t use hands,” he said, implying the use of a firearm. But they do use Krav Maga to “catch or bring someone into custody.”</p>
<p>Kapoor himself studied under Krav Maga experts in Israel, and his sympathies are clear. “War is in Israeli blood. War is not in Indian blood,” he said. “We are more peace-loving. If we had war in our blood, no one could enter Parliament and do the shooting.” He later added, “Nobody dares to mess with Israel.”</p>

<p><a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/head-instructor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with head instructor">Head instructor</a>/chairman of the International Krav-Maga Federation (Israeil), <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/eyal-yanilov/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with eyal yanilov">Eyal Yanilov</a> gave valuable tips of this Israeli technique of self-defence to the learners on Sunday.</p>
<p>Yanilov, the senior most Krav-Maga practitioner in the world, exhorted the students to work hard. He said that <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/indian/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Indian">Indian</a> culture was very rich. “Be proud of being an <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/indian/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Indian">Indian</a>,” said the living legend and guru extraordinaire of Krav-Maga, amid applause from the students. Yanilov, who started learning Krav-Maga at the age of 14 and became an <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/instructor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with instructor">instructor</a> at the age of 17 and toured more than 200 days in a year across the world to spread the self-<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">defence system</a>, also gave a brief note about the history of Krav-Maga.</p>
<p>“Krav-Maga does not look at the tradition and beauty of art but focuses on safety in a simple manner,” said Eyal Yanilov, who holds unique founder’s diploma of excellence.</p>
<p>Lion Academy of <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-art/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial art">Martial Art</a> and Bhartendu Academy had jointly organised the training camp in which around 70 trainees, including around 35 jawans of 39 Gorkha Training Centre and students of Army School and civil schools participated.</p>
<p>Country head of the International Krav-Maga Federation, Vikram Kapoor, who brought <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/krav-maga/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with krav maga">Krav Maga</a> to <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/india/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with India">India</a> and is <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/india/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with India">India</a>’s only internationally qualified instructor, said one could achieve nothing without hard work. “Continue to work hard you would definitely achieve your goal one day,” said Kapoor.</p>
<p>Eyal Yanilov and Vikram Kapoor were also felicitated on the occasion. Head of Varanasi, Gopal Ji Seth introduced Yanilov to the trainees and conducted the programme. Convener, Rajander Trivedi welcomed the guests.</p>

It is with this in mind that <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/ikmf/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with IKMF">IKMF</a>, <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/india/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with India">India</a> plans to start special defence classes for <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/indian-women/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with indian women">Indian women</a>. “Every woman has to be able to defend herself. It’s a violent and scary world,” believes <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky">Vicky</a>.</p>
<p>The method</p>
<p>This Self <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">Defence system</a> is the only one that teaches you to watch out for other attackers. The first goal of Krav-Maga is to neutralise the weapon, next, neutralise the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/attacker/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with attacker">attacker</a> and finally, attack the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/attacker/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with attacker">attacker</a>.</p>
<p>Vulnerable areas</p>
<p>In the third stage, you are taught about the vulnerable zones of the body. The central line, down from the forehead, past the nose, chin and abdomen to the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/groin/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with groin">groin</a>, is the most vulnerable, so, the attack is concentrated right here.</p>
<p>Human principle</p>
<p>It doesn’t expect ordinary people to behave like trained <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-arts/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial arts">martial arts</a> experts. Instead, it channels normal human <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/reflexes/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with reflexes">reflexes</a> to work to the advantage of individuals. Participants are not only taught how to use their own <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/reflexes/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with reflexes">reflexes</a>, but also made aware of how to use the opponent’s <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/reflexes/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with reflexes">reflexes</a> against him/her and turn everyday objects, like a tray, into a shield or weapon.</p>
<p>Helps you lose weight too</p>
<p>The hour-long session includes a <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/cardio/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with cardio">cardio</a> workout and helps tone muscles too.</p>

<p><a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/krav-maga/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with krav maga">KRAV MAGA</a> IS NOT YOUR RUN-OF-THE-MILL <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/karate/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Karate">KARATE</a> –TAE KWON DO <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Martial">MARTIAL</a> ART PRACTISED IN DOUBLE-BREASTED WHITE KURTAS AND COLOURED BELTS……</p>
<p>IT IS NOT ABOUT SPORT.</p>
<p>ITS ABOUT FIGHTING, HANDLING A SITUATION AND GETTING OUT IN ONE PIECE.</p>
<p>In the heart of Lutyen’s Delhi sits whitewashed house with green bamboo gates hidden behind metal barriers .Heavily armed guards patrol the gate. A sentry on the roof. Finger on rifle, stares fiercely at passers-by, little watch towers dot the perimeter. This is the house of Omar Abdullah, leader of Kashmir’s National Conference. Member of Parliament and one of the most securely protected men in the country. And yet,” in a given scenario I could actually disarm my own body guards and knocks them down. It’s not a very reassuring thought.” is what he has to say. That Omar Abdullah is learning krav Maga. An <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israeli/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israeli">Israeli</a> form of <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/combat/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with combat">combat</a> that the most elite forces in the world are privy to. And increasingly civilians are discovering its benefits as well. Krav Maga is not your run-of the mill karate –tae kwon do <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/martial-arts/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with martial arts">martial arts</a> practiced in doubled breasted white kurtas and colored belts. Formulated by Imi <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/lichtenfeld/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Lichtenfeld">Lichtenfeld</a> in the 1930’s.Krav Maga evolved out of a need to protect oneself; a Jewish secret weapon against Fascists in Bratislava, the capital of present day Slovakia. When <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/lichtenfeld/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Lichtenfeld">Lichtenfeld</a> moved to Palestine, before establishment of the Jewish underground militia and precursor to today&#8217;s <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israeli-army/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with israeli army">Israeli army</a>, which has been practicing it ever since. Cut to the present, Krav Maga has become the most versatile and practical self <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/defence-system/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with defence system">defence system</a>. While the course taught to civilians differs dramatically from the army course .primarily in terms of weapons –handling and being trained to kill, it’s the only system that takes into account day to day situations and continues to add techniques with experience. When the classical martial arts were developed, there were not any firearms, says <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/india/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with India">India</a>’s first krav maga <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/instructor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with instructor">instructor</a> <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky">Vicky</a> Kapoor ”where as firearms are part and parcel of krav maga .As are day to day situations like muggings harassments and car jacking&#8217;s.”With 27 years of experience in various martial arts including goju ryu. Tae kwon do, judo .judo And kick boxing .<a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/vicky/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Vicky">Vicky</a> is well placed to make the comparison.</p>
<p>…….CELEBRITES LIKE SHANNON ELIZABETH, <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/jennifer-lopez/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Jennifer Lopez">JENNIFER LOPEZ</a> AND JAMES GANDOLFINI HAS TRAINED IN KRAV MAGA AND AGENCEIS LIKE THE CIA, FBI AND NUMEROUS POLICE DEPARTMENTS EMPLOYS IT AS WELL.</p>
<p>Also unlike classical martial arts, Krav Maga has no competitive component. There are no Krav Maga competitions, no tourneys and it’s unlikely to ever become an Olympic sports. Krav maga is not about sport. Its abuot fighting handling a situations and getting out in one piece. There are no real rules and nothing is of limit .The primary targets are the face and <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/groin/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with groin">groin</a>. Needless to say cups are compulsory during <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/training/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Training">training</a>. Krav maga was the sole domain of the Israeli <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/military/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Military">military</a> for many decades. Until Imi Lichtenfled retired as <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/chief-instructor/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Chief Instructor">chief instructor</a> of the <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israeli-defence-forces/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with israeli defence forces">Israeli Defence forces</a> since 1964 and Started modifying it or civilians .Today Krav Maga exists in the three forms the civilian s courses, the law enforcement course and the military course Vicky, who holds a law enforcement instructor certificate apart from running a civilian <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/training/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Training">training</a> centre in Delhi ‘s leafy saket suburb, says that though the principles are fundamentally the same, there are differences in the three versions.”Krav maga for civilians is basically to deal with any situation that may arise and to save your self and Escape. When we deal with law enforcements agencies, there’a lot more stress on neutralizing disarming and controlling rather than just escaping .With the military. There are special programmes and a course is often tailor made depending on the needs of the focus there is to kill.’ Krav maga first arrived on the international scene two decades ago. Before which experts on this system could only be found in <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israel/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israel">Israel</a> . since then ,its popularity has mushroomed ,both among civilians and law enforcement agencies there are now centre s in the countries across the globe, from us to Japan and Finland to New Zealand .so much so that celebrities like Gandolfini ,Shannon Elizabeth Jennifer Lopez have trained in krav maga .and agencies like the CIA ,FBI and numerous police department employ it as well. In India Krav Maga made it s entry two years ago after Vicky had obtained an instructor‘s certificate from the international krav Maga Federations (IKMF) in <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israel/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israel">Israel</a>. I e-mailed Eyal Yanilov the head of IKMF, many times over the course of a year but didn’t get any response. It was only when a friends friend from <a href="http://vickykapoor.com/tag/israel/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Israel">Israel</a> met me in India and promised to speak to Yanilo in Netanya that he finally agreed to look at my back ground and accept me for the instructor ‘s course.</p>
