Krav Maga Practitioner : Gillan Divecha
March 10th, 2008
Remember the 1986 film Karate Kid II, where Mr. Miyagi reads the rules of Karate to his student, Daniel LaRusso ?
- Rule Number One: “Karate for defense only.”
- Rule Number Two: “First learn Rule Number One.”
At every Krav Maga class, drills it into us, that it is always better to talk and walk away from a confrontation than to have to face it.
On one hand we may be lining ourselves up for more trouble than we could handle, or we may unwittingly demolish an opponent, who at a different time and place, may not be such a bad guy after all. Use what we learn in class with Great Caution – only to be exercised in extreme situations that threaten our lives and those of our loved ones.
This does not mean that we were not careful or aware enough before ever stepping into a Krav Maga Class.
It’s just that now, while we continue to avoid suspicious places, suspicious characters, suspicious situations, if trouble still insists on seeking us out, we possess the knowledge, the training, the confidence, and the ability to leave multiple attackers crumpled… and still walk away.
